Photos from the musical Curtains
at the Historic Cocoa Village Playhouse

----- ----- -----

These photos are from the musical production of "Curtains" at the Historic Cocoa Village Playhouse during February and March of 2010. This was the third musical production of their 20th season. The show ran for a total of five weekends. It was my fifth show at the Playhouse and it was a wonderful experience! I would most definitely do it again (if I could commit the time). If you have some photos of this production that you would like me to put on this website, just email me!

I know Facebook is a wildly popular way to share photos, but not everyone I know is on Facebook. Plus I own this leucht.com website and like to maintain full control of the content that I post. The downside is that I don't have tagging or commenting capabilities here. If you really really want to tag yourself in a photo that I took, feel free to snag my photo from here and upload it to your own Facebook album. If you really really want to comment on a photo that I took, go ahead and email me the comment and I'll be happy to post it next to the photo and give you credit for the post.

Photo Robert and I think Tim are carefully flying me up and down in this show.

Photo Me in the middle of one of my scenes as Sid. This was taken during rehearsals, so we weren't all fully in costumes yet.

Photo Wide Open Spaces number at the beginning of the show. I helped sing this song from the wings.

Photo What Kind of Man number right after they find that one favorable review in all the newspapers.

Photo The Woman's Dead number when the cast finds out their star has died. Another song I sang from the wings. At the end of this song we get to meet Lieutenant Cioffi. He swings the rear stage door open and stands there for a moment in sharp silouette and smoke effect. Cool entrance.

Photo Critically acclaimed director Christopher Belling introducing himself to Inspector Frank Cioffi. Rick played the director role beautifully. It was a laugh a minute.

Photo Show People number starring the whole cast. The audience ate this one up. I also belted this one from the wings.

Photo This was my first scene in the show. Here I am being mean to Johnny the stage manager.

Photo And here I am being mean to Daryl Grady, the newspaper critic in a later scene. I wonder why all the characters in this show hated me so much.

Photo In the Same Boat number. Cioffi thinks it's kind of lackluster. It lacks ... luster.

Photo Can-Can dancers warm up the audience for the Act 1 finale ... the big saloon scene and the Thataway musical number.

Photo And here is the Thataway number getting set up for some good old fashioned western musical dancing.

Photo Love Jeannette's expression in this photo. The whole cast gets gaught trying to grab the briefcase that has some very compromising evidence against someone.

Photo And here is the real Act 1 finale ... Sid getting "accidentally" hanged while the curtain comes down. Flying by a wire was a real trip. I'm glad the audience appreciated the humor in this bit.

Photo And this is how Act 1 ended. You can see the wire hooked to the middle of my back. The rope was all just for show. The flying harness was actually around my waist and thighs.

Photo Here is the He Did It musical number. Everyone was in pajamas for this scene. Kyle had bunny slippers and Chris had on an adult onesie and a little teddy bear in his arms. Very funny stuff.

Photo Here is the It's A Business number. I sang this song from the wings too. 2nd Tenor part.

Photo Bambi gets to show off her dancing in the big Kansasland number.

Photo Niki finds a gun and almost kills Leiutenant Cioffi with it.

Photo This is the dream sequence where Cioffi and Niki dream that they are starring in a big dance number. The audience loved this scene ... and I think the dancers enjoyed it too. The song was A Tough Act To Follow. I was backstage moving big set pieces around during most of the second act.

Photo Doesn't that look fun!?!

Photo Are you thinkin what I'm thinkin? I sure think I am! Come on gang!

Photo This was our cast cat. I think it's real name is Princess, but her stage name was Ophelia. She helped us scare the stage manager Johnny ... right before he got killed.

Photo This short scene may be my favorite in the show. It's a fly loft set and the actors are actually up about 8 feet above the stage floor. Later in the scene, Cioffi leans over to look at a set piece and is hit by a falling sandbag and falls down to the stage floor on wires, but he's hidden by an 8 foot tall black curtain so the audience thinks he has fallen like 20 or 30 feet to the stage floor.

Photo Then a few minutes into the next scene Cioffi comes down on a set piece and the audience realizes that he's been hanging on to this set piece up in the fly gallery for the past few minutes. It's a pretty cool bit. Not real easy to pull off, though. After he fell to the stage in the prior scene, the 8 foot black curtain had to be raised while Cioffi was also raised up into the fly gallery and then he was set down onto this globe set piece up there out of sight of the audience.

Photo Cioffi saves the production by greatly improving the In The Same Boat number. And greatly improving the chance that Christopher Belling will take credit for it.

Photo Tracy and Rick and Keith have a little scene in front of the curtain while the company gets set up on stage for the finale.

Photo And here is the finale.

Photo This was taken at imtermission of our final performance. It was my last fly. It took me the whole first weekend to realize that I could control which direction I was facing during the flying sequence. The rest of the run was spent trying to die facing the left hand side of the audience so that when the cable unwould slowly while I was motionless I would pan slowly from that position to the right hand side of the audience and not spin completely around and have my back towards the audience. I got it right about half of the time. Oh well.

Photo I have no idea why Chris was dressed like this during intermission of our final performance. Maybe just to entertain us?

Photo I bought a pinata and dressed it up with construction paper to make it look like my character, Sid. The only "human shaped" pinata I could find was Elmo, though. Sorry Elmo! It went over very well, though. The cast members had fun whacking dead Sid. Chris actually gave me the idea, since he always teased me during the performances telling me that he was going to start hitting me with a stick when he saw me hanging there at the end of Act 1.
