Nose & Sinus Surgery
June 7th, 2008Kurt has been home for the past week recovering from endoscopic sinus surgery and deviated septum correction. He and the doctor are hopeful that these procedures will allow him to have less sinus infections and also less ear infections in the future. The recovery from the sinus part was really pretty painless. Guess there aren’t too many pain receptors around your sinus cavities. The deviated septum surgery is the only soreness that Kurt is experiencing right now. But the nose and upper jaw soreness is tolerable and Kurt is going back to work this week.
In this front view CAT-scan, taken before the surgery, you can clearly see both my deviated septum (the middle part of my nose) and my “benign semitransparent nasal lesion” (which is a fancy medical term for “tissue in the sinus cavity that doesn’t belong there and is not cancerous”) on the left side under my eye. The sinus cavity on the right side of the image is black, which means there is no abnormal tissue inside there … only air.

In this bottom view CAT-scan, also taken before the surgery, you can also clearly see both problems.

1st Annual Light the Way 5K Run/Walk
January 21st, 2007Yesterday morning our family took part in the 1st Annual Gilchrist Educational Foundation (GEF) Light the Way 5K Run/Walk at our church. We walked. And even though we were pushing strollers with the boys for all 5 kilometers, we did not cross the finish line last … we crossed it third to last.
Official race results are here at Running Zone. We finished with an official time of 51 minutes and 13 seconds.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
January 3rd, 2007Another year has slipped by, and during my Christmas vacation this year I managed to get our web based Leucht photo album online. I even backfilled it with lots of old photos that I had archived to CDROM.

Leucht Garage Sale
December 2nd, 2006
Sam’s been working very hard for a couple weeks now to get ready for another garage sale. It’s going to be tomorrow. Should be good weather with highs in the lower 80’s and little chance of rain. I’ll be playing indoors with the boys to try to keep them from realizing that we’re trying to sell a bunch of their old toys and stuffed animals.

New Leucht genealogy website launched!
August 19th, 2006
I’ve launched a new Leucht genealogy website. Check it out here:http://www.leucht2.com/genealogy/
If you are family and just want to look at the data, log in using the standard family username and password that you’ve used elsewhere on leucht.com. If you don’t know (or forgot) the standard family username and password, just email or call me and I’ll let you know what it is.
For those who want to be able to actually edit or submit new data, you will have to register as a new user. I know it’s not very intuitive, but I didn’t write the software so it can’t be helped. To request a new user account, just click “Login”, then click “Request new user account”. Then type in your name and some other minor information and submit the form. I’ll approve you as a user ASAP!
