Aired week of Nov 4, 1996
and week of Mar 24, 1997

Tamara is barred from an investigation of a mysterious and unearthly substance found clinging to a satellite.

Plot: (pasted from the official "The Cape" Web Site)

When a satellite comes back after more than two years in orbit, Tamara is called in to the Clean Room to examine and identify a mysterious substance that now clings to the outside surface. The unidentified substance is unlike anything shešs ever seen before and Tamara enlists D.B. to help make sense of the top secret project.

Without warning, Tamara is suddenly pushed aside by Keith Mason and his team from Ames Research. They claim to be working in cooperation with NASA, but it quickly becomes obvious that Mason has his own agenda and is purposely hiding valuable information. Tamara does some checking on her own, makes an incredible discovery about the substance and is immediately shut down by Mason. Tamara finally realizes that there is more than professional competition at stake and she may never really know the magnitude of what she has discovered.

Reggie is totally consumed with preparation for his first Shuttle mission. But when he agrees to let Moonshot bartender Chris sleep on his couch for a couple of days, the distraction of a loud house guest is too much. Lack of sleep and too much stress cause Reggie to lose his concentration and make unnecessary mistakes that bring his competence into question. Meanwhile, Barbara desperately wants to get her training back on course, but Riles questions her competence after an incident during flight training.
