13th Episode: "Interpretations"
Aired week of Jan 27, 1997

A strange occurrence in space leaves some wondering what unexplainable force might have intervened...

Plot: (pasted from the official "The Cape" Web Site)

When a satellite mission goes awry, no one can explain the strange circumstances and Tamara is guarded about revealing an odd vision. Bull, seasoned astronaut Dwight Ellis, Tamara and an Italian astronaut named Mario are on the mission to send an Italian test satellite out in space on a tether. All goes smoothly until there's a sudden flash and then complete darkness.

Once the lights are back on, the crew is horrified to see the satellite floating away into space, its severed tether trailing behind. None of them have the slightest idea what has gone wrong, except that Tamara seems disturbed by something she saw during the seconds of darkness that she isn't discussing. Once they're back on the ground, extensive investigation and prolonged finger pointing still fail to turn up answers...but Dwight hints that along with Tamara, he, too, had some sort of "sighting" up there.

As usual, Bull takes full responsibility for what happened, but further inquiry shows he couldn't have been the cause. However, while speculation grows about whether something extraterrestrial may have been involved, the scientists come up with an answer that Dwight may not want to hear. Meanwhile, Zeke meets a pretty environmentalist and pursues her, only to find that their interests may put them at irreconcilable odds with each other.
